In a Q&A with The Sun‘s Dan Wootton, Louis confirmed that there is “obviously no truth” to the chatter that he and his former One Direction bandmate, Harry Styles, are in or ever were in a relationship.
“I’ve never actually been asked about it directly,” he says in response to Dan asking if he wanted to put the rumors to rest once and for all. “It’s a funny thing. People can believe what they want to believe, but I just think it comes across some times as a little bit disrespectful, to the ones that I love, like [my current girlfriend] Eleanor.”
He went onto explain that Larry Stylinson is, like many conspiracy theories, completely baseless. “If you Google ‘conspiracy’ on iPhones, you’re going to get a conspiracy. So it’s one of these things that people love to buy into, but in reality obviously there’s no truth to it. Obviously,” he says.
Louis also confirmed to The Sun that the rumors made things difficult for him and Harry, who felt like they needed to keep the fan speculation at bay — especially since Louis was seriously dating Eleanor.
“I’m so protective over things like that, about the people I love. So it created this atmosphere between the two of us where everyone was looking into everything we did. It took away the vibe you get off anyone,” Louis said. “It made everything a little bit more unapproachable. I think [what’s happened since] shows that it was never anything ‘real’ if I can use that word.”
However, this isn’t the first time Louis has spoken out about his annoyance with the fan theory. In 2012, he took to Twitter to call it “the biggest load of bulls*t [he’s] ever heard,” and the singer has even set his Instagram to filter out any comments that say “Larry Stylinson.”
Now that that’s settled, can we all just agree to respect Harry and Louis, and stop it?
