Another Columbian front page article about how the rich are richer and the poor pay for it. Billionaire Bill Gates who lives in Washington pays 3 percent of his income in taxes; the poor in Washington pay 17 percent. This is the worst state in the nation for this. This state, this nation, prefers to use taxpayer money, from the poor, to assure rich developers can build luxury condos on the Columbia, rather than see to it that the working get a fair deal.
The Trump tax cut, as many noted, shoved it to the working class. This is the scheme, long term, developed by Republicans since Reagan. Giant corporations such as Boeing, Amazon and General Electric, pay little to no taxes to the state whose infrastructure supports them. Republicans vilify institutions: Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, education, welfare, government as a whole. They defund it, make sure it doesn’t work, then point at it and say “it doesn’t work.”
It is long past time for Americans to wake up, smell the coffee, and realize phony tax cuts benefit only the rich and undermine the country. Why does the workers’ so-called tax cut expire while the rich’s cut doesn’t? Ask yourself that. Republicans threw Americans a bone.
