LeBron James not quite back in playing shape, heavier than usual – LeBron Wire

LeBron James was putting up monster numbers in some of the games he played in after coming back from a groin injury that kept him out for over five weeks, but he’s still a ways away from being the player everyone knows him to be.

It appears that the number to look at for LeBron is not in the box score, but in the waist line.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, while speaking on his podcast with The Hoop Collective, James is currently playing at 280 pounds, which is considerably more than his preferred playing weight of around 250-to-265 pounds.

While James was doing all he could to get back to the court, it makes sense that his conditioning took something of a hit when he was forced to watch games from the bench for over a month. James made a point of going on a diet after being injured, but apparently the lack of activity compared to his normal standard led to a weight gain.

For another look at the discussion of James’ weight, HoopsHype’s Bryan Kalbrosky spoke with basketball trainer Travelle Gaines who thinks that estimate is a little high.
