Suhana Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Zero
The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero may have turned out to be a box-office dud but it’s a film that is extremely close to the superstar’s heart. The romantic comedy, directed by Aanand L Rai, gave SRK the rare opportunity to play a dwarf on screen for the first time in his career. Pulling him out of his comfort zone, the film made the superstar adopt the mannerisms and accent of an average Meerut man. Besides this, Zero is the film that gave him the chance to work with his daughter Suhana Khan. Confused? Let us make things clear for you.
Shah Rukh, in his recent interview to Filmfare, revealed that Suhana was his assistant director during Zero. Remember her photos and videos from the film’s sets? Looks like she was there for a purpose.
SRK told Filmfare, “We were shooting a song for Zero. I wanted her to watch Katrina (Kaif) and Anushka (Sharma) because both of them are such different kind of actors. Katrina has her own charm and Anushka has her own way of enacting. But what they did instead is put her onto me as the assistant director to get me on time from home. She would say, ‘Papa, the shot is ready.’”
While the superstar is happy about the ‘training’ that Suhana received on the sets of Zero, he wants her to finish her education first. “She needs to finish her education first. Education formalises and makes your craft better. She wants to do stage, street theatre…There are plenty of opportunities around the world. In India, I guess we don’t learn acting. We just assume hum mein talent hain,” he further told the magazine.
On the film front, Shah Rukh is yet to make a formal announcement pertaining to his next film. He has reportedly signed Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, the biopic of India’s first space traveller, Rakesh Sharma.
