How Shah Rukh Khan managed to score over Salman Khan for the role of ‘Zero’ – Times of India

Much has been written aboutSalman Khanbeing the first choice for the film ‘Zero‘, whose protagonist is a vertically challenged man and how he rejected the role, which finally went toShah Rukh Khan. Contrary to reports, there was no question of rejection as the film’s script was still in the making when it was mentioned to the actor. This came to light in an interview given by the film’s director Anand L Rai to a news web portal.
When SRK mentioned at the trailer launch of ‘Zero’ that it was Salman who called him to suggest that he should do the film, the director said that he pitched the idea to Salman, however, he did not go back to him when the script was completed. Elaborating on it, Rai explained in the interview that there was a reason on why did not go back to Salman when the script was complete – and that reason is that the script had taken a different turn from the time he pitched the idea to the actor. The love story that took shape in the story was more suited for SRK. However, he is happy that Salman is still associated in some way with the film as he has done a cameo with the song, ‘Issaqbaazi‘. And he enjoyed the experience of shooting the song with both the Khans.
The film, which also starsKatrina KaifandAnushka Sharma, is slated to hit the screens on December 21.
