Salman Khan has emerged supreme on the Forbes India 100 celebrity list, but his colleagues, too, have grabbed spots in the Top 10. These actors have proved their star power not only through their blockbuster movies but also by being ambassadors of popular products. Here’s who has made an impact and why…

1. Akshay Kumar

With two of his films, Pad Man and Gold, hitting the bullseye this year, and multiple brand endorsements in his kitty, Akshay Kumar is ranked third. Forbes describes him as one of Bollywood’s leading men, “who has transitioned to socially-conscious roles, such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, a comedy supporting the government’s campaign to improve sanitation, and Pad Man, about a guy hoping to provide inexpensive sanitary pads to rural communities. He still mints millions from backend profits and endorsing some 20 brands, including Tata and Eveready.”

The Bollywood superstar, who is paid around Rs 10-12 cr for being the face of various labels, is one of the most-sought-after actors in the ad world. He aces in the action space and, at the same time, is seen as a family man, which makes him the go-to person for a varied range of products. Not to forget, his films that have crossed the magical Rs 100-cr mark in the last couple of years.

2. Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is slaying it this year. Despite only one release in 2018, the actress is the only woman to make it to the top five! She is ranked at No. 4 with earnings of Rs 112 cr, thanks to the blockbuster Padmaavat, which grossed about Rs 282 cr at the box office and her brand endorsements. She was reportedly paid a whopping Rs 12 crore for the film, which was more than her co-stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Even on the list, she is ahead of her husband, who is four places behind at No. 8. Besides her film outings, the leggy actress is the face of over a dozen products including Tanishq, L’Oreal, Axis Bank and Oppo 5. She reportedly charges Rs 8 cr for a three-day shoot of a commercial. Not surprising then, the doe-eyed beauty is numero uno in Bollywood as well as the advertising world. 

3. Aamir Khan

His latest release Thugs Of Hindostan may have been a damp squib, but that hasn’t necessarily affected his brand value. Aamir Khan has been ranked at No. 6 with Rs 97.5 crore earnings though he did not have a single release in the year under consideration, which is between October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018.

Even when it comes to endorsements, the perfectionist is as choosy as his films and promotes limited brands. But companies are still willing to shell out a huge price to get the 52-year-old superstar on board. Currently, he is the face of Vivo smartphone, a deal which reportedly fetched him Rs 15 crore as his annual endorsement fee.

4. Amitabh Bachchan

Even as younger actors are yet to make it to the list, the 76-year-old has made his presence felt yet again and is ranked at No. 7 on the list. Despite Thugs Of Hindostan failing at the box office, it’s clear that nothing can mar the immense popularity of the legend of Hindi cinema who had a hit earlier this year in 102 Not Out.

His hold over social media sees him among the most followed people on pretty much every platform. On the work front, with Kaun Banega Crorepati and his many brand endorsements, he continues to rake in an astronomical amount of money. For the former, he was apparently paid Rs 1.5 crore for every episode, while corporates are reportedly ready to shell out around Rs 2 crore to have him promote their product. 

5. Ranveer Singh

Ranveer had a rocking beginning this year with Padmaavat, which saw him playing the ruthless villain Alauddin Khilji and earned about Rs 282 cr. Going by the trailer of his second release this year, Simmba, which hits the screens on December 28, there’s no doubt that the Rohit Shetty directorial will be a blockbuster.

Besides movies, the actor is a popular choice in the advertising arena, too. He endorses around 16 brands across various categories at the moment. Experts say that he apparently charges around Rs 2-3 cr per deal. Now, do the maths! From toothpaste to cars and condoms to cola, he is the face of all kinds of products, which goes to show his wide mass appeal. No wonder, he is the only actor among his contemporaries to grab a spot in the Top 10 on this list at No.8.

6. Ajay Devgn

In 2018, Ajay starred in Raid, which saw him playing an honest Income Tax officer. The movie was appreciated by the critics and audience alike and hit the Rs 100 cr mark. The actor announced many projects in 2018, including two collaborations with Luv Ranjan. While one will be directed by Akiv Ali, the other will be helmed by the Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety director himself in which Ajay will share screen space with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time.

The actor-producer is also immensely excited about his ambitious project, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior in which he will team up with Saif Ali Khan after 12 years.

The 49-year-old also produced two films Aapla Maanus and Helicopter Eela, this year. Moreover, Ajay is one of the few actors who continues to have long-term associations with the brands that he endorses. He is ranked at No.10.
