Katy Perry was not going to let this Beverly Hills, CA, estate be the one that got away. The pop star is reportedly in the process of closing on a four-bed, five-bath home in the celeb enclave of Hidden Valley, TMZ reports.
If that particular gated community sounds familiar, it’s because Perry also bought a $19 million mansion in Hidden Valley last year, and get this—it’s one minute away from her new home. That’s right. Perry will own two multimillion-dollar properties within walking distance of each other.
So why would the “California Gurls” songstress feel the need to lay down that much cash in the 90210? She decided she wants to buy the second place as a guesthouse for friends and family.
Could she really not find enough space to put up visitors in the 5,400-square-foot home she already owns? (Cue eye roll.)
The listing is currently pending, but TMZ reports the deal will close next month, and Perry is expected to pay close to the asking price of $7.5 million.
Perry isn’t the only celebrity who has purchased a massive home right next to their main abode. Taylor Swift once owned a four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home in Beverly Hills that served as her go-to place for out-of-town guests. She sold that place last month, though, for $2.65 million, but it was just up the road from the $4 million main residence she also sold earlier this year. Swift’s current Beverly Hills home is the estate once owned by legendary Hollywood producer Samuel Goldwyn, which she bought in 2015 for $25 million.
Rapper Drake owns a whopping three homes—all on the same cul-de-sac—in the exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. His most recent purchase was a $4.5 million off-market deal that expanded his SoCal compound to 6.7 acres, plenty of room for guests to feel like they’re living in the lap of luxury.
