The Juventus forward netted a fantastic volley in the second half to put the Italian outfit ahead in the Champions League group stage tie.
But Manchester United netted two late goals to steal three points and leave Ronaldo and co. devastated.
Jose Mourinho then stole the headlines by gesturing to the home fans before heading down the tunnel at the Allianz Stadium.
And Wenger believes Ronaldo will be upset that the spotlight was taken away from him after his strike.
“He [Ronaldo] will go home tonight, believe me, absolutely gutted because a goal like that will not be highlighted”
“It is such a fantastic goal, it surprises us all, we have seen so many games but we’re still surprised because he does the unexpected,” Wenger told Bein Sports.
“He has a short backlift, it doesn’t take him time to hit the ball and even the keeper didn’t move, De Gea has fantastic reactions but even he didn’t lift a hand.
“He [Ronaldo] will go home tonight, believe me, absolutely gutted because a goal like that will not be highlighted because they lost the game.
“This goal, with a 1-0 victory, would have been all over the world tomorrow.”

Ronaldo was not happy after the clash, insisting his side should have taken all three points.
“Manchester, they didn’t do much, in my opinion,” he said.
“They created two chances, set pieces, I know the English teams they are always looking for the set pieces.
“But we will learn from our mistakes and we are still top of the group so we are good.”
