Film festivals have been quite important not just for the fans but for the stars as well and once such prestigious film festival is Kolkata International Film Festival that was inaugurated earlier today by Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman and more. This is the 24th year of the film festival and many Bollywood biggies have joined hands to make this event even more special. While the Chief Minister of Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee also joined the Bollywood actors during the inauguration of the film festival making it even more special.
Ahead of the inauguration, CM Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to announce the initiation of the Kolkata International Film Festival. She wrote, “Welcome to #Kolkata @SrBachchan Ji, @iamsrk, Jaya Di, Waheeda Rehman Ji, @MaheshNBhatt Ji, @nanditadas, Biswajit (Da) Chatterjee, Majid Majidi, Phillip Noyce, Jil Bilcock, Simon Baker & every dignitary. Looking forward to a memorable evening with you at #KIFF2018 inaugural ceremony.”

The event started at 4 pm and was held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. While today was just the beginning of the film festival, it will go on until November 17. This year it is even more special because it celebrates 100 years of Bengali Cinema.
Other than the Bengali movies, Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero will also have a world premiere at this film festival.
