Manchester City winger Leroy Sane rates Lionel Messi higher than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The German speedster was asked during a Twitter Q&A on Friday night who the best footballers of all time are, and left Ronaldo out of his answer, instead plumping for Messi and Brazil legend Ronaldinho.
Messi has started the season in fine form for Barcelona, scoring 12 goals in 12 games, while Ronaldo has notched eight in 14 for new club Juventus.
Sane fielded a number of questions from supporters during the Q&A, but the fans weren’t the only people getting involved. Sane’s City teammates Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy also weighed in.
“Do you really think you can beat me in a race? If you do then you must be #InSane #AskLeroy,” Walker wrote, to which Sane responded: “You won’t let this one go, will you? Okay, let’s find out who is faster at the end of this season. Deal?”
At the time of writing Walker was yet to respond to Sane’s proposition!
Mendy’s question was: “Who gives you the best assists?”
The Frenchman’s probably didn’t get the answer he was looking for, though, as Sane responded to say Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.
De Bruyne has missed City’s last two games with a knee injury – his second of the season – and will miss Sunday’s Manchester derby against United at the Etihad.
City have an otherwise fully-fit squad for the crunch fixture, with Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany both available after being left out against Shakhtar in midweek.
And the same goes for midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who came off the bench on Wednesday for his first appearance since the 2-1 win at Hoffenheim last month.
