Ellen DeGeneres Ready To ‘Bury The Hatchet’ With Kelly Ripa?
Ellen DeGeneres never had to “bury the hatchet” with Kelly Ripa because the two talk-show hosts were never feuding, despite a report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop initially busted the phony claim 12 months ago. At the time, it was alleged DeGeneres was looking to be forgiven for slighting Ripa by having Michael Strahan on her daytime show as a guest, and now a year later it’s clear there was nothing to the tabloid’s tall tale.
On November 10, 2017, Star maintained DeGeneres was “begging” Ripa to forgive her for putting Strahan on her show. The tabloid alleged DeGeneres and Ripa’s former “Live” cohost conspired together “to stick it to Kelly,” which is why Strahan was on the daytime program just a month before. The magazine contended Ripa was “livid” with DeGeneres, who she felt was “taunting” and taking a “nasty swipe” at her for booking Strahan.
An alleged “source” was even quoted as saying DeGeneres should have been “ashamed of herself” because having the former “Live” host on with her was “just plain mean.” The same purported insider noted that following the episode’s airing, DeGeneres understood booking Strahan as a guest was “hurtful” and became so “remorseful” that she wanted Ripa’s forgiveness and to “bury the hatchet.” But Strahan’s appearance on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” had nothing to do with Ripa whatsoever. While on, the retired football player turned TV personality discussed the NFL National Anthem protests.
When we first busted the story 365 days ago, an impeccable DeGeneres source called the tabloid’s interpretation of Strahan’s appearance a “joke,” and assured us it wasn’t to taunt or take a “nasty swipe” at Ripa. Of course, if DeGeneres actually had reason to feel “remorseful” and “bury the hatchet” with the “Live” host, she wouldn’t have had the former football star on again. But just two months ago, Strahan was again talking to DeGeneres on her program about his 25 push-up challenge to raise money for military veterans. He also discussed whether he would kneel during the National Anthem if he were still playing in the NFL, and with his “GMA Day” co-host Sara Haines, Strahan interviewed DeGeneres on a number of topics, including her upcoming Netflix stand-up special and when she knew Portia de Rossi was “the one.”
In the intervening year since Gossip Cop corrected Star for its inaccurate story about Strahan, Ripa, and DeGeneres, the tabloid hasn’t gotten much better with its reporting. In the beginning of the year, for instance, we shot down an absurd tale about DeGeneres being in a “love triangle” with de Rossi and Anne Heche. Maybe it’s time for that tabloid to “bury the hatchet” and stop writing provably untrue and “just plain mean” stories about the talk-show host.
